INTERVIEWS

CARS

Dominique Housieaux (Fra/Buggy Schlesser): «It’s my first victory in a World cup stage; we failed yesterday and not two days in a row. The special was long and strenuous but this kind of terrain suits our buggy perfectly. With two wheel drive in the dunes you need to take precautions, but this time the buggies are truly in the race”.

Orlando Terranova (Arg/BMW X3): «We believed bad luck was following us on the Rally. But today apart from a flat tire and having to use the mechanical jack, all went well on this extremely fast special”.

Krzysztof Holowczyc (Pol/Nissan Pickup): «We didn’t see Schlesser’s buggy coming, as they overtook us without using their sentinel warner we found ourselves in a rain of stones. One went straight through the radiator, we had to repair using our drinking water and two hours in this kind of heat were pure hell”.

Kenjiro Shinozuka (Jap/Nissan Pathfinder): «It’s my third Rallye de Tunise and even if my motor is not as powerfull as my previous cars, I’m having loads of fun. You won’t believe this but after all these years I’m still nervous about sand dunes”.

MOTORBIKES

Thierry Bethys (Fra/Honda 450) : «Great to free one self on these fast tracks. Even if I made a navigation mistake after only two kilometers, I had so much fun in the dunes. After winning the Shamrock this was my first victory in such an African Rally. It was motivating and I can’t wait to open the race tomorrow morning”.

Oscar Polli (Ita/KTM 690): « A day for big bikes today and the scenery is absolutely marvelous. I’m a pro in sand dunes and hoping for a good score in tomorrow’s loop. Hopefully the next stages should help me get a position in the top three of the Rallye de Tunisie.

Pedro Bianchi Prata (Por/Yamaha 450): «I was cautious on this leg, preferring the safety card rather than taking any risks. After all I’m a pilot not a Kamikaze. I honestly saw traces of ten meter jumps, scary in these conditions! Hopeful to make good tomorrow because I love sand dunes”.

Ludivine Puy (Fra/KTM 690): «Reminded me of a Dakar « special », feeling I’m in the same kind of rhythm. I need to keep my pace as the difficulty level on this Rallye de Tunisie seems to be high”.
