INTERVIEWS

CARS

Jose Luis Monterde (Esp/Buggy Schlesser) : What a varied and testing leg. Today’s time differences were made in navigation. And we made the most of Dominique Housieaux tracks. I am particularly happy to be part of the schlesser team. Tomorrow’s leg will be very intense with a spot on the podium a possibility, anything can still happen”.

Dominique Housieaux (Fra/Buggy Schlesser) : “Twice we’ve had the honour of opining the special. Last time was not so lucky, but, hey! this time we did well. We are in the lead by twelve seconds, gonna be tight tomorrow…”

Christian Lavieille (Fra/Proto Dessoude) : “We had fun in the dunes, as much in Jeinein as in Ksar Ghilane, it was great. We’d love to come and play more often. We shall fight for a place on the podium, and with the first five cars within thirty five minutes of each other it will be close”.

Eric Vigouroux (Fra/Trophy Truck Chevrolet) : “We had a good rhythm this morning, even overtaking Dominique (Housieaux), but then we both made silly mistakes, he in navigation and I, losing concentration and then we lost two tires simultaneously. We Managed to change them both in 8 minutes! But then we had 160 kms to do, praying not to loose another. Tomorrow will be a gentleman’s duel, we will give it all we’ve got

BIKES

Olivier Pain (Fra/Yamaha 450) :  “I was alone, I saw I was well ahead at refuelling, I knew I wasn’t far from today’s best time. Kept on going at the same rhythm. I want to guarantee a win in this Rally, a victory I hadn’t imagined just a couple of days ago”.

Stan Watt (G-B/KTM 690) : “ I knew I was doing well, no navigation problems, and I was thinking that I am going to be one of the day’s best time. Then I had a manifold problem that kept my last 200 km to 100 km/hour, It was still a good day for me”

Alex Antor (And/KTM 690) : “Leaving twentieth this morning I was confident especially as I was doing well all the way. I realise now how much a good physical is needed for this kind of race.. and also the lack of sleep”.

Thierry Bethys (Fra/Honda 450) :  “So close to the end and having to give up, it’s very annoying. I could tell the engine was giving in, so I slowed down to at least finish, then it just stopped”.
